Yoga Nidra

Yoga Nidra, also known as yogic sleep or sleep with awareness, is an ancient practice that is rapidly gaining popularity in the West. It is intended to induce full-body relaxation and a deep meditative state of consciousness. It is profoundly restorative for the body and mind. In fact, a half an hour of yoga nidra is equivalent to 2 hours of conventional sleep.


"We live in a chronically exhausted, over stimulated world," says renowned yoga teacher Rod Stryker. "Yoga Nidra is a systematic method of complete relaxation, holistically addressing our physiological, neurological, and subconscious needs."


When yoga nidra is combined with sankalpa (or resolution) it can have a profound and positive effect on your life. A sankalpa is a positive statement or affirmation. Something that you are deeply committed to achieving in the next 3-6 months. 


A sankalpa creates new life-affirming directions and coupled with yoga nidra, it allows you to gather all of your potential power to accomplish whatever goal or end you desire. Your sankalpa is a clear statement affirming something you want to achieve. Your sankalpa should be clear, concise, and in the positive and  present tense.
